Picea Glauca
White spruce is a hardy, native evergreen conifer with dense, blue-green to green needles and a naturally conical shape. It is an excellent choice for windbreaks, shelterbelts, privacy screens, and wildlife habitat.
Approximate Maximum Height: Up to 30 m
Zone(s): Zone 2-6
Lighting: Full sun to partial shade. Best growth occurs in full sun.
Germination: Seeds generally germinate readily after 30-60 days of cold stratification. Sow seeds shallowly in a well-draining seed-starting mix and keep them consistently moist. Germination usually occurs within 2-4 weeks after stratification under suitable conditions.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged during germination and early growth. Once established, white spruce is moderately drought-tolerant, but regular watering during prolonged dry periods will support healthy growth.
