Vegetable FAQ'S

When is the best time to plant vegetables in New Brunswick?

Most vegetables are planted in late spring  early summer after the danger of frost has passed . Cool-season crops like lettuce, spinach, and peas can go in earlier, while heat lovers like tomatoes and peppers should wait until the soil warms up. We’re always happy to help you time your planting right for your zone!

How much sunlight do vegetable plants need?

Most vegetables need at least 6 to 8 hours of full sun per day to thrive. Leafy greens can tolerate a bit of shade, but fruiting veggies like tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash need lots of sun for a great harvest.

How often should I water my vegetable plants?

Vegetable plants typically need 1–2 inches of water per week, which usually means watering deeply 2–3 times per week. In hot weather or when growing in containers, you may need to water more often. It’s best to water deeply rather than giving a light sprinkle—this encourages strong root growth.
