Fruit FAQ'S

Do fruit plants need full sun?

Yes—most fruit plants perform best with at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily. Sunlight is crucial for strong growth, flowering, and ultimately, fruit production.

Do I need more than one tree to get fruit?

It depends on the plant! Some fruit trees, like apples, need a second variety nearby for cross-pollination, while others like sour cherries and blueberries are self-pollinating but may produce more fruit with a companion. Our team can guide you on what each plant needs.

When should I prune fruit trees and bushes?

Pruning is usually done in the spring—before new growth starts. This helps shape the plant, improve air circulation, and encourage healthy fruiting. Berry bushes like raspberries and blueberries also benefit from pruning, but each has its own technique. Don’t worry—we're always happy to walk you through it or provide seasonal pruning tips!

Are they hard to look after?

They are slightly more maintenance then trees and shrubs.  Needing the basics: full sun, well-drained soil, consistent watering (especially when young), and occasional feeding. We'll help you choose varieties that suit your space and experience level. Many berry bushes and hardy fruit trees are quite low-maintenance once established.
