Characteristics: A graceful Dutch iris with elegant lavender and violet flowers accented by white falls and a distinctive golden-yellow central marking. The tall, slender stems and sword-like green foliage provide strong vertical interest in spring gardens. ‘Carmen’ is an excellent choice for borders, containers and cut-flower arrangements, and is known for its naturalizing habit.

Maintenance Requirements: Low; plant bulbs in autumn about 3" (8 cm) deep in fertile, well-drained soil. Water after planting and during active growth as needed, but avoid consistently wet soil. Remove spent flower stems after blooming and allow the foliage to die back naturally. Dutch irises can naturalize under suitable conditions and are excellent for cutting.
