Characteristics: Dicentra formosa is a perennial herb native to moist woodland, forest, and streambanks from California to British Columbia, from sea level to the subalpine zone. It features fern-like, bluish-green foliage and produces clusters of heart-shaped flowers in shades of pink, purple, yellow, or cream. The plant grows from a brittle rhizome at the base and can reach up to 45 cm (18 inches) in height.
