Stunning large blooms in 6-8 weeks from planting the bulb!

These are best potted in a 6-8" pot with good drainage. Heavy pots are a good idea since plants can be top heavy with those large flowers. Using a good potting mix, plant the bulb (pointy end up) so that approximately 1/3 of the bulb remains above the soil level.

Light: Choose a location that receives bright, indirect light. (To prolong blooms keep the pot out of direct sunlight. Turn the pot periodically to promote even growth.

Water: Water sparingly until you see about 2" of new growth. From then on, water regularly. 

Care after blooming: Remove spent flower stalks to within 1" of the top of the bulb. Plants can now be moved to a sunnier location or spend the summer outdoors. The plant is now using its leaves to grow and put energy into the bulb for later blooming. Feed plants 1-2 times per month and keep the soil barely moist. In late summer to early fall stop watering the plant and move it to a cool (12 degree Celsius), dry location for a rest period for at least 2 months (can be up to 5 months depending on when you want it to bloom). Six to eight weeks before you want flowers, repot the bulb, move to a brighter room and resume regular care.
