Titanopsis Calcarea
A small mat-forming succulent native to Africa, it is prized for its unique foliage, which closely mimics the rocky, calcareous soil of its natural habitat, providing effective camouflage from herbivores. It produces small, yellow or orange daisy-like flowers (up to 2 cm wide) in the late fall and winter.
Lighting: Provide plenty of bright sunlight. A south-facing window is ideal for indoor growing. Intense direct sun in the hottest summer months can cause stress, so providing some afternoon shade is beneficial.
Watering: During its active growth in fall and spring, water thoroughly but sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Titanopsis calcarea is summer-dormant, so watering should be significantly reduced during the hottest months to prevent root rot. The plant also requires very little water during winter. If the leaves wrinkle, it's a sign that it needs a drink.
