Approximately 35 seeds/package (300 seeds/gram)
These crested beauties set the standard for anemone-type marigolds. Compact, bushy plants 15-30 cm in height are loaded with tons of double blooms, 5-7 cm across. Extra-strong stems and a great branching habit, plus an excellent tolerance to summer heat. Festive colours include red-tipped, yellow Bolero accents, deep reds, rich yellows and tangerine. This marigold provides phenomenal colour in mass plantings, borders, walkways and container plantings.
These incredibly easy-to-grow annuals can be directly seeded in the garden in mid-to-late May. Sow 6 mm deep, watering as necessary until germination occurs in roughly 7 days. Thin or transplant the seedlings to 20 cm apart when they are 5-8 cm tall. For earlier blooms, start seed indoors in a soil-less mix 6 weeks before planting time. Keep at 20°C for the 7-10 day germination period, then grow under lights at a slightly cooler temperature, before hardening off and transplanting to a sunny site in the garden. The unusual scent of marigolds seem to repel insects, and they are often planted in vegetable gardens for this reason. We suggest removing spent flowers to help encourage continuous blooming.
