Brighten your garden with Pacific Beauty Mixed Calendula, an incredibly easy-to-grow annual. Also known as “pot marigold,” this plant produces beautiful blooms in a range of colours, from yellow, orange, and apricot to cream. The flowers vary in size, from 2.5 to 10 cm, and bloom freely through the summer on well-branched plants. Calendula is one of the most adaptable and easiest flowers to grow, making it a perfect choice for gardeners of all levels.

  • Type: Open-Pollinated Annual
  • Height: 45 cm
  • Features: Easy to grow; adaptable to various soils; great for containers.

Calendula is a beautiful and easy-to-grow addition to any garden. Though calendula can re-seed itself, it is not invasive.

  • Site Selection: Plant in a spot with well-drained soil that receives plenty of sun. In areas with very hot summers, it can tolerate some afternoon shade.
  • Sowing Outdoors: Direct sow seeds in the garden in mid to late May, planting them 6 mm deep. Protect young seedlings from rabbits. Thin seedlings so they are 20 cm apart.
  • Sowing Indoors: For an earlier start, sow seeds indoors in a soil-less medium in early April.
  • Germination: Keep the temperature at 21°C during the 5-10 day germination period.
  • Upkeep: After germination, grow seedlings at a lower temperature of 10-13°C before hardening off and transplanting them to their final location.

This is a must-have plant for anyone who wants a reliable and vibrant flower that requires minimal fuss. Its cheerful, sun-like blooms provide continuous colour all season long and can be used in both fresh and dried arrangements. As a bonus, calendula flowers are edible and can add a beautiful splash of colour to salads and other dishes. Its adaptability makes it an ideal plant for borders, garden beds, or containers.
