Scientific Name: Coreopsis lanceolata
Common Name: Lanceleaf Coreopsis
Exposure: Full sun
Blooming Time: May to July
Bloom Duration: 6 to 8 weeks
Fragrance: No noticeable fragrance
Plant Growing Habit: Upright, clump-forming
Characteristics: Produces cheerful, bright golden-yellow daisy-like flowers with slightly toothed petals held above narrow, lance-shaped green foliage. A long-lived North American native perennial that is highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. Excellent for borders, cottage gardens, native plantings, meadows, and naturalized landscapes. Seed heads also provide food for songbirds later in the season.
Spacing: 30 to 45 cm apart
Height: 45 to 60 cm
Width: 30 to 45 cm
Maintenance Requirements: Low maintenance. Prefers full sun and well-drained soils, including sandy or rocky sites. Water regularly during establishment; once established, it is drought tolerant. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage additional blooms and maintain a tidy appearance. Cut plants back after flowering if they become untidy or to promote fresh foliage. Fertilization is rarely necessary in average soils, as overly fertile soil can reduce flowering. Exceptionally hardy and well-suited to Canadian gardens in Zones 3–8.
