These sturdy plants grow up to 75 cm (30″) in height, producing large, 4-lobed, thick-walled, 7-10 cm (3-4″) diameter peppers that are particularly sweet and juicy. Peppers average about 170 g (6 oz) in weight. Mature green fruit left on the plant will turn red with age and sweeten in taste even further.

Sow seed indoors in early March 2 mm (1/8″) deep in a soil-less seed starting mix. Germination can take from 14-21 days at 22-25°C. Transplant seedlings at the second or third leaf stage into 7.5 cm (3″) pots. Grow under lights with warm 24°C days and cooler 16 C nights. Harden off seedlings, then transplant out after all risk of frost has passed. This usually occurs in late May to early June. In the garden, space plants about 90 cm apart in organic, well-drained soil. Full sun is essential for the best results. Shelter plants from gusty winds and keep evenly watered.
