Philodendron Verrucousum is a colourful Philodendron with velvety leaves. It is a hemiepiphyte which means that it starts its life as a seed growing in the canopy of trees and eventually reaches the soil with its roots. Therefore the roots need good aeration so a light, chunky soil providing excellent drainage is a requirement. This philodendron is a climber.
Lighting: Bright indirect light or filtered light is best for these. For example light coming from a window very close by that is not touching the leaf blades directly, such as an East facing window.
Watering: Water thoroughly when watering to mimic tropical jungle conditions. It is best practice to keep the soil humid but never soggy. Do not let the soil dry out completely.
This plant is a humidity lover so misting, a pebble tray or a humidifier close by would definitely be beneficial.
